Legislative notes for the week ending 31 Jan 2025:

This week was a busy one. We testified on two of our four priorities and two associated compacts:

  • HB 060 Income Tax Subtraction – “Keep our Heroes Home Act. (This bill has now been heard in both Chambers).
  • HB 267 – Claim Service Prohibition or “Claim Predators”. EXPECT AN ACTION ALERT soon.
  • HB  118 – Interstate Teacher Mobility Compact
  • HB 345 – Interstate Social Worker Compact. (This bill has now been heard in both Chambers).

Other testimony this week –

  • HB 248 – Motor Vehicle Registration – Unemployable Disabled Veterans
  • SB 006 – Veterans and Military Family Ombudsman – Establishment (provides a dedicated staff in DVMF to do outreach to an estimated ½ million constituents.

Monday, February 3rd, is a key deadline for the Senate—it’s the last day to file legislation to ensure it gets assigned to a committee. We are still waiting for the cross-file on “Claim Predators”
